Sargent
Sargent is a nine-year-old Jack Russell Terrier with perhaps some herding dog in him rescued from Devore Animal Shelter. He is a gruff little man with a heart of gold. This sturdy little guy checks all the boxes: confident, smart, energetic and very affectionate. He would thrive in a quieter home as loud noises scare him a bit. He is incredibly good with people but would prefer not to live with smaller children. Sargent would do well with an active person taking him on daily walks. He is good on a leash and doesn’t pull.
Sargent was definitely loved in his former life. When found as a stray, he was already microchipped and neutered. Sadly, when the number on the microchip was called, no one answered or came forward. Southpaw took Sargent to our vet for a full wellness check. Everything checks out: good eyes, good ears, good heart and blood work is healthy. The vet noticed some stiffness in the back leg, so we did some x-rays and were surprised to find that at some point in Sargent's life, he had broken his leg pretty bad. Instead of the less expensive amputation, his former people paid a lot of money to have metalware put in with a pin. The surgeon was good as there are no complications or arthritis in the leg.
Sargent is fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Although 9 is considered “senior”, Sargent really is just entering middle age with his best years ahead of him.
